The new Citroen e-Jumpy Hydrogen has a range of up to 400 km

Citroen e-Jumpy Hydrogen

The Citroen e-Jumpy Hydrogen is the brand's first model to introduce hydrogen technology. The compact transporter has a hydrogen fuel cell drive with a plug-in battery. Payload and loading volume correspond to the version with a combustion engine.

The new Citroen e-Jumpy Hydrogen has a range of over 400 km. Its three 700 bar hydrogen tanks made of carbon fiber, built into the underbody next to the battery, can be filled in just three minutes. The transporter does not sacrifice space and loading volume compared to the version with a combustion engine. Customers have free travel in all city centers.

"The Citroen e-Jumpy Hydrogen expands our range of light commercial vehicles. With its architecture, which combines a hydrogen fuel cell with a battery, our new van offers the best of both technologies. The components were installed to save space so that no compromises have to be made in terms of volume or payload," says Laurence Hansen, Citroën Director of Product and Strategy.

The Citroen e-Jumpy Hydrogen is fully electric and benefits from two energy sources: a 45 kW fuel cell, which generates electricity by consuming the hydrogen stored in a three-cylinder tank at a pressure of 700 bar, and a 10.5 kWh battery, which serves as a 50 km reserve and takes over automatically when the hydrogen tank is empty. The hydrogen fuel cell ensures the range of the vehicle; the battery is required in transition phases such as strong acceleration and inclines that require additional power. These two energy sources jointly drive the engine and supply the drive train. The braking and deceleration energy can be recovered and fed into the battery via the electric motor. The battery can also be charged via a cable at charging stations for electric cars.

The Citroen e-Jumpy Hydrogen will be available in the lengths M (4.95 meters) and XL (5.30 meters) and will be produced in Sevel-Nord, France. The first deliveries to fleet customers will take place from autumn 2021.

In 2019, Citroen announced the electrification of the entire range of commercial vehicles. Now the brand is keeping its promise. The battery-electric ë-Jumpy has been available to order since August 2020. The first deliveries of the e-Berlingo panel van, e-Jumper, and Citroen e-Jumpy Hydrogen will occur in the winter of 2021. The brand thus offers a tailor-made solution for every commercial customer.

The Citroen Berlingo panel van has been sold more than 1.6 million times since it was launched in 1996 and has set the standard in the compact van market for three generations. At the end of April, it was the second best-selling vehicle in its segment in Europe. The electric Citroen e-Berlingo panel van will be available to order shortly. It has a range of up to 275 km, according to WLTP. The 50 kWh lithium-ion battery can be recharged up to 80 percent at a public quick-charging station in just under 30 minutes. The electric drive has an output of 100 kW (136 hp); the maximum speed is 130 km / h. Like the version with a combustion engine, the Citroën ë-Berlingo panel van impresses with five body configurations, a load volume of up to 4.4 m3, a payload of up to 800 kg, and the variable driver's cab Extenso. In addition, 18 technologies, including the head-up display and the new 10-inch instrument cluster, ensure safe, relaxed driving.

The Citroen e-Jumpy electric van impresses with its versatile character, feels at home on all roads, and offers the same generous load volume as the version with a combustion engine. In this way, small and medium-sized goods, as well as bulky items, can be transported. Due to its modern design, outstanding comfort on board, the loading volume of up to 6.6 m3, and the payload of up to 1,275 kg, the Citroen e-Jumpy was named "International Van of the Year 2021". The transporter also impresses with its unique modularity: Moduwork enables a flat loading area of up to four meters. Furthermore, customers can choose between two different sized lithium-ion batteries. Depending on requirements, a battery with 50 kWh for a range of up to 212 km and a 75 kWh battery for a maximum of 318 km according to WLTP5 are available. With this option, the Citroen e-Jumpy covers more than 91% of the requirement profiles in its segment.

The Citroen e-Jumper, which will be available soon, will be available in four lengths and three heights and two battery sizes. In addition, four versions will be available: closed box van, single cab, double cab, and floor assembly with driver's cab. The loading volume of up to 17 m3 and the payload of up to 1,590 kg meet all requirements in the segment. @via electrive.
