The new Cupra Born electric car is here

The new Cupra Born electric car

Seat's division, Cupra, which specializes in high-performance vehicles, has unveiled the new Born electric car. It comes in two different power levels, and clients may pick between three other battery options.

Cupra (the performance section under the SEAT umbrella) has finally debuted the new Born electric vehicle, which was first revealed in a video a week ago. It is based on the same Volkswagen MEB architecture as the ID.3, ID.4, and Skoda Enyaq iV.
The new Cupra Born resembles the el-Born concept presented by the Spaniards two years ago in Geneva in terms of aesthetics. There are also body parts from Volkswagen ID.3, the most noticeable of which are the doors.

Copper has made its mark, of course, with copper-colored exterior features and angular lines that give it a more aggressive appearance. Large air intakes and taillights are also present, with an LED strip and a prominent air diffuser connecting them. The rims' diameters range from 18 to 20 inches, and they can be fitted with a variety of aerodynamic features.

The new Cupra Born's interior features a digital instrument panel with its own graphics, an interactive media system with a 12-inch display, a Head-up Display with augmented reality (on higher equipment levels), a steering wheel with specific Cupra switches, and sports seats upholstered in materials derived from Mediterranean plastic recycling.

The Cupra Born will get a single electric powertrain and rear-wheel drive, similar to the Volkswagen ID.3.

Customers may choose between two power options: 150 horsepower and 310 Nm or 204 horsepower and 310 Nm. The E-Boost Performance kit boosts the latter's power to 231 hp for a few seconds.

One hundred kilometers per hour is attained in 6.6 seconds under these conditions. The 150 horsepower variant accelerates to 100 km/h in 8.9 seconds.
There are three battery options for the new Cupra Born: 45 kWh, 58 kWh, and 77 kWh. The range ranges between 340 and 540 kilometers, depending on the option selected.

According to Cupra, the battery with the largest capacity will be charged at fast-charging stations with powers of up to 125 kW. You'll have to wait around seven minutes for a range of 100 kilometers in this scenario.
The Volkswagen facility in Zwickau will begin production of the first Cupra electric vehicle in September. By the end of 2021, the new Cupra Born electric car will be available on the market.
