Many driving school students now getting behind the wheel for the first time are expected to drive only electric cars when they obtain their driving licenses. Three driving schools in Norway and one in the Netherlands are starting a new way to teach driving to "Generation E" by giving their students the Ford Mustang Mach-E electric SUV.
The Mustang Mach-E's range and lower running costs for teachers and driving school owners make it an ideal car for driving schools. In contrast, its eye-catching design and exquisite appearance make it a terrific advertisement for the school. Trainee drivers also have benefits; learning to drive a Ford Mustang Mach-E can help drivers pass their driving test with fewer lessons. When completing the test in a Ford Mustang Mach-E, drivers can employ the on-board driver aid technology, including automated parking and reverse start.
Another key advantage of the Ford Mustang Mach-E is that teachers may alter the car's settings according to the student's wishes, in terms of how quick acceleration and braking should be. The car's ease of use, featuring a huge touch screen and one-pedal operation, also draws older pupils who had previously opted not to learn to drive.
Frank Massop, the proprietor of a driving school in the Netherlands, had this to say:
"The instant a student enters the Ford Mustang Mach-E, they are surrounded by an atmosphere of self-assurance. There are many helpful systems installed for the driver. The learner driver's attention is not divided, and they acquire a heightened sensitivity to traffic and road conditions from the get-go. Due to student demand, I plan to add another Ford Mustang Mach-E to my fleet."
The use of electric cars at driving schools is changing the way driving is learned, with instructors teaching new drivers critical efficiency practices that help extend a vehicle's range. Many "Generation E" drivers, who are more likely to have electric cars at home, find that the Ford Mustang Mach-E and this new manner of learning reinforce their faith in an electric future.
