The new Ford E-Transit electric van from 49,000 euros

The production-ready Ford E-Transit makes its European debut at the International Commercial Vehicle Fair in Birmingham, UK. The new Ford E-Transit electric van will be available for purchase in October of this year.

The fully electric model of the world's best-selling van will provide excellent performance because of its class-leading battery capacity, range, power, and innovative innovations. You also get high-quality equipment, including the most advanced intelligent driver assistance technologies, as well as a variety of integrated programs and services that can give even lower operating and ownership expenses.

Ford also claims that the E-Transit will be highly affordable.

We will announce final costs in Europe very shortly - and what we can say is that we aim to expedite the development of additional electric commercial cars into the Norwegian market as soon as possible, says CEO of Ford Motor Norway. Hans Schep, General Manager, Commercial Vehicles at Ford of Europe, confirms the strategy: As an example, when Ford E-Transit goes on sale in the UK in October, the starting price will be 49,000 euros (without VAT).

The Ford E-Transit is intended to fulfill the requirements of a wide range of enterprises. With a typical 68 kWh net battery capacity, the class will have the greatest electrical range, with up to 317 km tested using the WLTP technique. In addition, the torque of the rear-wheel-drive electric van will be up to 430 Nm, depending on whether you pick the 184 hp or 269 hp model, and the van type will have a maximum payload of up to 1758 kilograms.

Ford will sell up to 25 distinct E-Transit versions in Europe, including vans, double cabs, and chassis with body choices. All are obtainable in a variety of lengths, ceiling heights, and load capacities, with gross vehicle weights ranging from 3.5 to 4.25 tons.

«Pro Power On Board» is available. The technology transforms the automobile into an energy source, allowing equipment and tools to be charged or operated with up to 2.3 kW of power (2300 W). This is the first time in Europe that such a system has been placed on the market for light commercial vehicles.

Just like the new Ford Mustang Mach-E has sold very well and is already a success in the passenger car category, all of the hype around the new Ford E-Transit suggests that it will do well in the commercial vehicle segment as well. Customers understand that when they purchase a Ford Transit, they are purchasing more than 50 years of knowledge, an extensive dealer network, a certified body, and a broad range of digital tools that will genuinely create a difference in their daily lives.

The Ford E-Transit electric van has regular charging (AC AC) and rapid charging (DC direct current) - with the car's internal charger of 11.3 kW, it can be charged from 0 to 100% in just over 8 hours. Charging from 15% to 80% will take around 34 minutes using a fast charger with a charging capability of up to 115 kW.

The new E-Transit will be available in two equipment options when it launches in the spring of 2022: Base and Trend. Both will be outfitted with considerably more features than the present diesel model.

For example, the basic model will include electronic air conditioning, SYNC4 with a 12-inch touch screen, keyless entry, heated seats, and heated electric side mirrors, as well as a lifetime membership to FordPass Pro.

The E-Transit electric van comes with cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, blind-spot assist with warning and braking for crossing traffic, and lane centering with the Trend equipment level.

With Ford Power Up, new E-Transit electric vans will be constantly updated with new and enhanced capabilities, as well as continual enhancements via OTA (Over-The-Air) updates.

Ford predicts that the e-maintenance and repair expenses will be 40% less than a comparable diesel-powered van. Compared to rivals in the United Kingdom and Germany, E-Transit has the lowest costs at the current time.

At the International Motor Show in Birmingham, Ford also announced that its Transit 2T would receive several improvements that will help greater productivity and even better safety on volume versions. According to the independent collision test program Europ NCAP, the Transit 2T and Transit Custom are already two vans with the best active safety on the European market.

Ford is now introducing a slew of new features for the whole Transit lineup, including the new SYNC 4 infotainment system, which unlocks a slew of new services and technology for improved safety and productivity. For example, emergency braking helps while reversing, and a 360-degree camera is being added to the extensive driver assistance technology list.

From spring 2022, Ford will also standardize the automated emergency braking function when the van approaches other cars, pedestrians, or cyclists and the file centering technology for all Ford Transit Trend, Limited, and Trail versions. This implies that this security system will be installed in more than 60% of all Transits sold in Europe.

All Ford E-Transit electric vans include a FordPass Connect modem as standard equipment. This means customers get a variety of services and initiatives that make driving a car even more cost-effective. This includes using the complimentary FordPass Pro service. This service should be provided to all commercial vehicle customers since it will enhance their productivity. Ford and the client will decrease unexpected vehicle downtime by up to 60% with FordPass Pro. @via Ford.
