New Hyundai KONA Electric: Drive the future with style, power and sustainability

Hyundai KONA Electric

Hyundai has launched the all-new KONA Electric during a digital world premiere, and it is an upscale team player offering a number of smart and advanced safety and utility features, as well as a class-leading range. This car represents a major part of Hyundai's electric car strategy, which aims to provide 11 new all-electric models by 2030.

The Hyundai KONA Electric is designed based on the electric version of the second-generation Hyundai KONA, which offers a wide range of powertrains. The all-electric KONA Electric applies and is an important part of Hyundai's electric car strategy. The new model is designed and developed to lead the competition with a number of unique features.

Hyundai's President and CEO Jaehoon Chang stated, "KONA Electric, together with our IONIQ models, plays a vital role in strengthening Hyundai's electric architecture. At Hyundai, we do not see the electric car revolution as just the latest trend in the market. We see the electric car as a fundamental change for both the car industry and society. By implementing environmentally friendly mobility solutions, such as our electric cars, we hope to accelerate the transition to clean mobility and create progress for humanity."

The 2023 KONA Electric is a powerful, dynamic, and stylish vehicle that retains its iconic character. It suits active lifestyles for a wide age group and offers a number of new technologies and comfort functions that provide a safe, connected and comfortable driving experience. The car features two large 12.3'' screens, a digital key, full OTA support and the new Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) user interface.

The Hyundai KONA Electric offers a class-leading electric range, with a WLTP estimate of up to 490 kilometers (not finally type-approved). The car gets a number of electric car-specific functions and features, such as frunk, active air dampers, V2L (Vehicle-to-load) outlet, head-up display, one-pedal driving with i-PEDAL, smart regeneration, e-Active sound design and a separate Eco package.

In terms of design, the Hyundai KONA Electric has an exterior that reflects sheer volume and dynamic performance. With a drag coefficient of just 0.27, the KONA Electric has solid aerodynamic properties that do not compromise on a stylish exterior. Between a streamlined and stylish front and rear, you find parametric surfaces and right-angled screens that give both character and volume. A chrome line runs across the rear spoiler and continues into the window line on each side. The electric car has a unique Pixelated Seamless Horizon Lamp that runs across the entire width of the car.

The KONA Electric's interior is spacious and functional, with a driver-oriented environment in the front seat. The dashboard has a fluid design with two large 12.3'' screens. The gear selector has been moved to the steering column, giving more space in the car's center console. The KONA's interior design emphasizes that it is larger and wider than before, and contributes to the feeling of a functional and comfortable space for both driver and passengers. The car can be supplied with relaxation comfort seats, which offer the option of reclining in a "weightless" relaxation position. In the back seat, the car has a Curveless Bench Seat, which maximizes the use of space, and you have the option of setting the rear seat back at different angles.

The 2023 Hyundai KONA Electric has a number of unique electric car functions that provide an even better experience on board. Preheating the battery pack before rapid charging ensures good charging speeds in cold weather, while a heated charging hatch means that you can safely open the charging hatch even in temperatures of minus 30 degrees.
