The Mercedes-Benz eEconic electric truck is scheduled to go into production

The Mercedes-Benz eEconic starts the final test phase before the series production. FES Frankfurter Entsorgungs- und Service GmbH is now using the Mercedes-Benz eEconic electric truck for municipal waste collection. The electric truck was presented by Dr. Ralf Forcher, Head of Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks, and officially handed over to Dirk Remmert, Technical Director of FES. The purely battery-electric Mercedes-Benz eEconic celebrates its trade fair premiere on May 30th at the IFAT - the world's leading trade fair for water, sewage, waste, and raw materials management - in Munich. Series production at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Wörth is scheduled to start this summer.

The Mercedes-Benz eEconic electric truck has a gross vehicle weight of 27 tons. As with the Mercedes-Benz eActros for heavy-duty distribution transport, the technological heart of the eEconic is the drive unit: an e-axle with two integrated electric motors and a two-speed gearbox. The Mercedes-Benz eEconic' battery system consists of three battery packs, each offering an installed capacity of 112 kWh and a usable capacity of around 97 kWh. The two liquid-cooled motors generate a continuous output of 330 kW and a peak output of 400 kW.

The Mercedes-Benz eEconic is characterized by its quiet driving style and its pleasant, calm driving experience. The Mercedes-Benz eEconic scores particularly well in urban use in the early hours of the morning with its lower noise emissions. In addition, with an anticipatory driving style, electrical energy can be recovered through recuperation – a great advantage, especially in stop-and-go operations when collecting waste.

After the day trips, the batteries of the electric truck can be charged with up to 160 kW at the customer's depots. In terms of vehicle architecture, the Mercedes-Benz eEconic also benefits from Daimler Truck's global platform strategy: the drive train of the low-floor truck is based on the Mercedes-Benz eActros electric truck, which has been in series production at the Wörth plant since October 2021.
