In February, Mercedes-Benz will unveil the next edition of the Mercedes-Benz eSprinter, an electric van with a much more extended range. On a single charge, the prototype van has already covered 475 kilometers.
It's encouraging news for the impending Mercedes eSprinter's driving range. Although it is not yet ready for mass production, a prototype of the electric vehicle has driven the 475 kilometers between Stuttgart and Munich and back again without recharging.
The route had highway driving and driving in hilly areas with steep climbs. Even so, the new Mercedes-Benz eSprinter electric van only used 21.9 kilowatt-hours of power per 100 kilometers.
The production version of the new Mercedes-Benz eSprinter, available with a choice of three different battery capacities, is based on this prototype. The electric van with the biggest battery was chosen for the test drive, and an extended-length, high-roof version was selected to show how the model could be used as a courier vehicle.
