The new Opel Astra Electric opens another innovative era for the automaker; the German brand has just released the first photos of the Opel Astra Electric. Thus, the Opel brand introduced the first mass-produced Opel Astra electric car. But this is not all, though. The new Opel Astra Sports Tourer Electric is a German manufacturer's first electric station wagon.
"The new battery-electric 5-door and station wagon from Opel, the Opel Astra Electric and Opel Astra Sports Tourer Electric, are groundbreaking vehicles. They provide drivers with a high level of comfort and, most importantly, a great deal of driving pleasure while producing no pollution in their immediate vicinity. When we say that intelligent "greenovation" of mobility is on the horizon, we mean exactly this: According to Opel's CEO, Florian Huettl, "Our campaign to electrify the area continues. "The launch of the new Opel Astra Electric is a major step toward our goal of becoming Europe's leading all-electric automaker."
The German brand adds more available drivetrains to the Opel Astra lineup than any other model. Opel Astra and Opel Astra Sports Tourer and the new top model, the Opel GSe, are now offered with plug-in hybrid powertrains. The Opel Astra Electric, powered by batteries and ready for preorder in the spring of 2023, will round out the lineup.
The new Opel Astra Electric and Opel Astra Sports Tourer Electric cars are fun to drive and suitable for everyday use because they reward the driver and reduce their carbon footprint.
Customers will be amazed by the new Opel Astra Electric and Opel Astra Sports Tourer Electric. Like every other Opel Astra, they feature a clean, straightforward look and deliver reliable performance. Regarding local emissions, you can rest assured that the new Opel Astra Electric leaves little to be desired. The electric motor produces 115 kilowatts (or 156 horsepower) and an astounding 270 Nm of maximum torque, both available instantly upon pressing the pedal, ensuring a quick start and impressive acceleration. The new Opel Astra Electric can reach a top speed of 170 km/h, while most other electric cars can only go 150 or 160 km/h. The driver of an Opel Astra Electric can switch between three different settings: Eco, Normal, and Sport, depending on their own tastes.
The car's power is stored in a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 54 kWh. The new Opel Astra Electric's 102 battery cells are contained in 17 modules, allowing it to go up to 416 kilometers with no emissions. Thanks to clever design, engineers carefully considered the battery's footprint while still guaranteeing a long range. The new Opel Astra Electric, available in a 5-door hatchback or station wagon body style, uses only 12.7 kWh of electricity every 100 kilometers, making it not only economical but also suitable for everyday use and long-distance travel (Sports Tourer). The Opel Astra's battery may be quickly recharged with a quick "pit stop" at a charging station. The Opel Astra Electric's battery can be charged to 80 percent at a 100 kW direct current fast charging station in around 30 minutes. The Opel Astra electric car also comes with a three-phase, 11 kW onboard charger that can be plugged into an ordinary household outlet.
A floor-mounted battery pack is a space-saving option that leaves the trunk and passenger compartment unaffected. The cargo space in the Opel Astra Sports Tourer Electric is 516 liters with all seats up, and it expands to 1,553 liters when the rear seats are folded down. Opel Astra Electric and Opel Astra Sports Tourer Electric also benefit from the low battery position by providing the usual Opel levels of safety and stability on the road.
Additionally, the interior is designed to deliver an exciting ride: the Alcantara-upholstered dynamic sports seats come standard in the Opel Astra Electric and are an optional upgrade for the driver and front passenger. Independent posture specialists at AGR have vouched for the seats, saying they provide exceptional lateral stability and a wide variety of manual and electric adjustments. This creates a one-of-a-kind experience for the driver, making them feel like they're part of the car itself.
The Pure Panel, a digital dashboard with two 10-inch widescreen displays, instantly brings the driver into the present. The most recent iteration of the user-friendly HMI makes it simple to view and change critical settings, such as the temperature and battery life, with the push of a button. The driver can maintain their eyes on the road and traffic thanks to the vast E-HUD Head-Up Display and the natural voice recognition technology. In addition to the segment-leading active Intelli-Lux LED Pixel Light headlights, which feature a total of 168 LED elements, the new Intelli-Drive 2.0 combines many driver assistance systems, such as an accident warning with automatic emergency braking, an active lane-keeping system, a drowsiness detection system, a rear cross-traffic alert, and semi-automatic lane change.
Even at first glance, the new Opel Astra Electric gives an impression of dynamism and directness behind the wheel. The Opel Vizor, the new face of the brand, is mounted on the super sports front bumper of the electric Opel Astra, giving the car a "bold and pure" appearance. Another eye-catching feature is standard 18-inch alloy wheels with a diamond cut or an all-black finish.
