Hertz and Polestar have formed a global strategic partnership to speed up the introduction of electric cars. Hertz and Polestar (the Swedish company that makes high-performance electric cars for the premium market) have announced a new global collaboration that will buy up to 65,000 electric vehicles over the next five years. In Europe, Polestar electric cars will be available in the spring of 2022. In North America and Australia, Polestar cars will be available in late 2022.
For Hertz, the collaboration is part of the company's long-term goal to lead the way in electric cars, shared mobility, and make digital customer travel easier. It is based on Hertz's announcement in October that they will have the largest electric rental car fleet in North America and one of the largest in the world. Polestar will help them do this. Besides making the fleet available to businesses and tourists, Hertz will put electric cars in the market for shared mobility to speed up going electric.
People at Hertz are excited to work with Polestar and look forward to adding their high-end electric cars to their fleet. "Today, we are working with Polestar to help us become a major player in the modern mobility ecosystem and make our company a socially-responsible one. When we work together with Polestar, a well-known electric car manufacturer, we can help speed up the introduction of electric cars and offer private customers and business customers electric premium cars, exceptional driving experiences, and a lower CO2 footprint."
Polestar is one of the forces behind the rise of electric cars worldwide. More people are interested in the environment and the convenience of electric vehicles, and Polestar helps speed up the transition to more environmentally friendly transportation. Earlier this month, Polestar said that the company has tripled its sales volume in 2021 and expects more than a double this year. Polestar expects to sell 290,000 cars a year in 2025. A merger with Gores Guggenheim, Inc. is scheduled to be completed in the second quarter of 2022. Polestar has already said it wants to be on the Nasdaq New York.
As the CEO of Polestar, Thomas Ingenlath wants to make electric cars more popular with a wide range of exciting and new products. "On Hertz's journey to become more electric, Polestar will be a key partner. To make electric driving more accessible to more people, we have teamed up with a global leader like Hertz. This allows us to meet a wide range of our customers' needs for transportation. The first time they drive an electric car may be their first time. It turns out to be a Polestar."
Hertz will start with the Polestar 2, a well-recognized electric car that has made Polestar a high-end electric car manufacturer with its first mass-produced model. Polestar 2 brings avant-garde, Scandinavian design and top-of-the-line car technology. Polestar 2 comes with the world's first infotainment system on Android Automotive OS and has Google built-in. In addition, it comes with a driver-oriented, dynamic driving package. Still, the best technology from Polestar we find in the Polestar O2 electric car.
