Polestar 3 has a Driver Monitoring System from Smart Eye

Polestar 3

Smart Eye and Polestar will introduce the Polestar 3' Driver Monitoring System (DMS) at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas in January 2023. The Polestar 3 electric SUV comes standard with a Driver Monitoring System (DMS) developed by Smart Eye, the industry leader in driver monitoring technology.

The Polestar 3 electric SUV has two high-quality closed-loop cameras and Smart Eye software that were designed to help avoid collisions and save lives. If it determines that the driver is preoccupied, weary, or absent from the wheel, it will issue alerts, sounds, and even an emergency braking function. Over the next few years, this technology will become increasingly important as it helps governments and other groups enhance and set new safety standards.

The Driver Monitoring System (DMS) is a component of an integrated suite of driver assistance technologies, including Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Pilot Assist. The NVIDIA car computer collects information from all the other systems and makes sense of it.

At CES, guests can observe firsthand how the Polestar 3's cameras follow the driver's gaze and how the car's software employs AI to assess the driver's health constantly.

"This technology addresses some of the key causes of fatal accidents and can help save lives by prompting the driver to regain their focus back on the road and taking preventive action if he or she does not or cannot," says Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar.

"We are happy to welcome our inventive Swedish colleagues to our exhibit at CES," said Martin Krantz, CEO, and Founder of Smart Eye. "Our sophisticated fleet-wide monitoring system is already used in over a million cars. We can finally unveil our technology's inner workings in one of the newest vehicle models."
