Ford has opened the online configurator for its first electric pick-up. The price of the Ford F-150 Lightning ranges from $ 40,000 for the cheapest model to $ 74,000, and the top-of-the-range equipment costs around $ 93,000.
The demand is great: Ford claims to almost double the F-150 Lightning electric pick-up production capacity to 150,000 vehicles per year. So the first interested parties who have made a reservation can place their orders for the F-150 Lightning this week.
According to Ford, there are 200,000 non-binding reservations, which means an unusual solution had to be found to convert them into orders. For this purpose, a reservation process with several waves is started.
If you have a reservation, you will receive an email invitation to place your order in the next few months. However, customers may not be able to order until the next model year is available.
This week begins the final phase before producing the Ford F-150 Lightning for private customers and the Ford F-150 Lightning Pro for commercial customers. The electric pick-up is built in the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Dearborn.
Depending on the model, the Ford F-150 Lightning electric pick-up has an autonomy of 370 or 480 km (EPA). Charging is done with up to 150 kW, from 15 to 80 percent, the process takes around 40 minutes. Ford has not yet given precise details on the battery capacity; it is estimated at 170 to 180 kWh for the larger model and approximately 140 kWh for the smaller model.
