Cupra DarkRebel Concept: A bold and edgy electric SUV

Cupra DarkRebel Concept

Cupra is a brand that likes to stand out from the crowd. The Spanish automaker spun off from Seat in 2018 and has made waves with distinctive and sporty designs, such as the Cupra Formentor crossover and the Cupra Born hatchback. Now, Cupra is taking things up a notch with the DarkRebel Concept, a striking electric SUV that previews its future design language.

The DarkRebel Concept is based on the Cupra Tavascan. The Cupra Tavascan is a sleek and futuristic electric SUV that shares its platform with the Volkswagen ID.4 and the Skoda Enyaq iV. The DarkRebel Concept takes the Tavascan’s shape and adds a dose of attitude and aggression with a dark gray matte paint job, copper accents, and sharp edges.

The front of the DarkRebel Concept features a large grille with a hexagonal pattern and the Cupra logo in copper. The grille is flanked by slim LED headlights that extend into the fenders. The lower bumper has large air intake and a carbon fiber splitter. The hood has a sculpted shape that enhances the muscular look of the vehicle.

The side profile of the DarkRebel Concept reveals its coupe-like silhouette, with a sloping roofline and a prominent shoulder line. The concept rides on 22-inch alloy wheels with copper spokes and carbon fiber inserts. The wheel arches are also trimmed in carbon fiber, as are the side skirts and the mirror caps. The door handles are flush with the bodywork, creating a smooth surface.

The rear of the Cupra DarkRebel electric car is equally impressive, with a full-width LED light bar that connects the taillights. The Cupra name is spelled out in copper letters on the tailgate, while the bumper has a large diffuser and four exhaust tips. The roof spoiler adds some aerodynamic flair to the design.

The interior of the DarkRebel Concept is not revealed yet, but we can expect it to be similar to the Tavascan’s cabin, which was minimalist and futuristic. The Tavascan had a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system. It also had ambient lighting, sports seats, and copper details throughout.

The DarkRebel Concept is powered by two electric motors, one on each axle, that deliver a combined output of 306 horsepower. The electric car can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 6.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 130 mph. The battery pack has a capacity of 77 kWh, which enables a range of about 280 miles on a single charge.

The DarkRebel Concept is not just a show car but a preview of what Cupra has in store for its future models. The brand plans to launch seven new models by 2024, including four electric vehicles and three plug-in hybrids. The Cupra Tavascan is expected to be one of them, and we hope that some of the DarkRebel Concept’s features will also make it to production.

The Cupra DarkRebel Concept is a bold and edgy electric SUV that showcases Cupra’s vision for its future design language. It combines a sleek and futuristic shape with a dark and aggressive attitude, creating a stunning contrast between matte gray and copper. It also boasts impressive performance and range from its electric powertrain, making it an attractive option for eco-conscious drivers who want some fun behind the wheel.

The Cupra DarkRebel Concept will debut at the Munich Motor Show, where it will surely turn some heads and attract attention. We can’t wait to see more of this concept and what Cupra has in store for us next.
