Pre-orders for the Volkswagen e-Crafter have been discontinued

Volkswagen e-Crafter electric van

Volkswagen's lineup of electric vehicles, which includes buses and trucks, is increasing. However, the Volkswagen e-Crafter electric van is currently unavailable for pre-orders in Germany.

The Volkswagen e-Crafter electric van is no longer available for pre-order from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles (VWN). Building a new version of the van powered by batteries in Germany is no longer possible. VWN directs interested parties to new sources. "Please ask your Volkswagen commercial vehicle partner whether they need an e-Crafter or can offer you an e-Crafter annual car," it reads. Volkswagen emphasizes, "While supplies last!"

Reports indicate that manufacturing of the Volkswagen e-Crafter will continue in Wrzenia, Poland, but the quota for the German market has likely been depleted.

The Volkswagen e-Crafter electric van can reach speeds of up to 90 km/h and can carry payloads of up to 998 kg. It has 10.7 m3 of cargo space and a maximum power output of 100 kW. (136 hp). According to WLTP, the maximum combined range is 115 km, while the maximum range in urban conditions is 159 km. Fast charging stations using CCS at 40 kW can replenish the 35.8 kWh battery to 80 percent in 45 minutes.

Volkswagen's e-Crafter, with a price tag of 53,900 euros, is aimed at businesses operating in congested urban areas, particularly those in the courier and logistics industries as well as the arts and crafts market, specialty retailers, and utility companies. The future of the series is uncertain. VWN offers a new e-transporter as of this year, the panel van variant of the Buzz ID, though it is significantly smaller than the e-Crafter. The ABT-bundled Volkswagen e-Caddy and Volkswagen e-Transporter 6.1 don't have nearly the cargo capacity of the Volkswagen e-Crafter.

The Volkswagen e-Crafter may see a new batch of availability in Germany sometime in the coming year. As part of their collaboration, Volkswagen and Ford may develop a new model based on the Ford Transit. However, that outcome is not guaranteed and may take some time to materialize. For now, Ford has started rolling out Transit Electric.
