Series production of the new BMW iX began at the BMW plant in Dingolfing. In the first photos, we can see the BMW iX electric SUV in Phytonic Blue Metallic for the first time, which gives us another fresh impression of the design.

The paintwork known so far, mainly from the X3 and 5 Series, is one of the regular metallic options, which can be ordered for an extra charge of 1,050 euros. The basic price only includes plain alpine white; the more elaborate paintwork in Storm Bay and Aventurine red is available for an extra charge of 2,300 euros. In addition, it will probably also be possible to order the BMW iX in numerous other colours with the help of BMW Individual.

At the start of series production, BMW Board Member, Milan Nedeljkovic was also in Dingolfing, Germany. He emphasizes that the BMW iX, despite its independent technical architecture, can be built on the same line as vehicles with combustion engines. In Dingolfing, the electric car runs on the same assembly line as the upper and luxury class vehicles of the BMW 5, 7 and 8 series. In order to be able to integrate the BMW iX into the structures, the BMW Group invested around 400 million euros in the Dingolfing plant.

Of course, other model series will also benefit from the millions invested in the future: As is well known, the next 7-generation (G70) will also come as an i7 electric car in 2022, and in the case of the 5-series G30 successor, a purely electric BMW i5 has already been confirmed for 2023.

In the current year, the proportion of vehicles with electrified drives in Dingolfing will be twice as high as in the previous year, and by 2025 the proportion should have grown to 50 %. Dingolfing is no exception: at least one electric car will roll off the assembly line in every German plant by the end of 2022, with the next step soon to begin with the inauguration of series production of the BMW i4 at the Munich plant. @via BMW.
